In 2018 Peter founded Enigma Holdings, an investment company that specialises in health, wellbeing, sport, learning, community and social housing, and XPG Ltd an investment company focused on house building. Peter has over 40 years’ experience in healthcare and life sciences having stepped down as Chief Executive Officer of Clinigen Group plc in 2017, a company he started started in 2010 as a global specialty pharmaceuticals and pharma services business, by 2016 it had a c.£1bn+ market cap, being one of the most successful floats on the AIM stock market.
Prior to Clinigen Peter led what was crowned “the PE deal of the year 2007” when he led the £67m management buy-out of Penn, where he was also named European Private Equity CEO of the year 2010. Whilst leading Clinigen numerous awards were gained for the company; No.1 Sunday Times Fast Track profit 100 (2011), Bionow Investment deal of the year (2012), M&A Awards IPO of the year & AIM Awards Best Newcomer (2013), European Business Awards – Business of TO €26m-€150m (2014) and LSE Top 100 inspiring British companies (2015). And for Peter personally he was again CEO of the year in 2014 at the European Mediscience Awards and Entrepreneur of the year At the 2016 AIM Awards.
Peter currently holds a number of public company roles; Chairman of Benchmark Holdings PLC, advisor at Clinigen Group, Ergomed plc, Gresham House and Oxford Sciences Innovations plc.
Peter is qualified in Pathology, with a Masters in both Clinical Biochemistry (Manchester) and Immunology (Nottingham) and an Executive MBA from Kellogg School of Management, Northwestern University Chicago.
Peter is also proud to be involved in numerous philanthropic ventures, including part owner of Mount Cooke Properties Ltd, which accommodates a Charity, Outdoors for All, offering a 140-bed activity centre for children based in Derbyshire. He also supports John Ruskin School, Coniston, in its leading science program. Through UK Challenge Peter has raised over £700k for charities, and Peter and Enigma also underpin Sporting Force, a charity supporting military veterans. Peter is also a big supporter of Crisis in its battle against homelessness and Cancer Research UK to whom he has donated significantly.
